Beatfreak Recordings continues its long running story with release number 421, and the Spanish institution lines up something truly special for the occasion. Vienna based producer Darksidevinyl arrives on the imprint with a brand new EP titled ‘Mwanga’, a record that captures the pure essence of the Afro Melodic sound while pushing the label’s identity even further into a new chapter.

The original ‘Mwanga’ is a deeply immersive piece, woven together with rich rhythmic textures, organic percussion, and a hypnotic atmosphere that pulls listeners into a powerful sonic journey. Darksidevinyl, real name Ahmed Mahmoud, has built his reputation by blending tribal elements with emotive melodies, and on this track he hits a perfect balance between energy and sophistication, equally at home in peak time moments and more introspective sets.

For the flip side, label boss D-Formation steps in with the unmistakable signature he has refined across decades behind the decks and in the studio. While preserving the Afro Melodic essence of the original, he pushes ‘Mwanga’ into a more driving territory, layering his characteristic storytelling approach over a tougher groove that lands as a serious DJ tool. It is exactly the kind of remix that justifies its presence on the EP, offering club ready energy without losing the soul of what Darksidevinyl crafted in the first place.

D-Formation, whose real name is Dimas Carbajo, founded Beatfreak Recordings back in 1997 and has spent the years since shaping the label into one of Spain’s most respected outlets for quality electronic music. With every release the imprint reinforces its identity, and ‘Mwanga’ is a strong continuation of that legacy.

Today we are thrilled to share the D-Formation remix of ‘Mwanga’ with the When We Dip community ahead of its official release.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Mwanga (D-Formation Remix)’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
