Drumcode drops first-ever Bart Skils remix package with striking cuts from Joris Voorn & Dok & Martin

Drumcode shares a first-ever remix package of Bart Skils productions, as one of the label’s most treasured artists gets reworked by Joris Voorn and ascendent duo Dok & Martin.

The remix pack showcases a contemporary Bart Skils cut released in the first half of 2023, with ‘Something More’ (a co-production with Weska), before harking back to a classic from 2014 with a fresh interpretation of his ‘Shadowprint’ classic.

The one and only Joris Voorn is first up, adding his touch to ‘Something More,’ with the remix standing as his label debut on Drumcode, no less. The legendary Dutchman adds plenty of ethereal energy to the original, via silky pads and a more pronounced build-up, while retaining the original’s slinky rolling groove.

Skils recently discovered emerging Spanish duo Dok & Martin and quickly drafted them into re- rubbing ‘Shadowprint.’ The OG version is a heady minimal techno cut underpinned by a striking baritone vocal that captured the understated rolling energy of that time. Dok & Martin inject it with a modern-day dancefloor kick, bringing plenty of peak-time potency to the track, while retaining the brilliant unique edge of the original’s famous vocal.

“As a fellow Amsterdamer, Joris Voorn is a long-time friend and was a perfect match for ‘Something More,’ which he turned into a fat melodic groover. For my classic ‘Shadowprint’ vocal, Dok & Martin turned it into a crazy good big room hammer track that goes down like a storm.” – Bart Skils
