Decent Rides return with ‘Like We Do,’ a four-track excursion through deep house, tech house, and cosmic grooves that lands as Fortunea Records’ first release after a brief hiatus. It’s a fitting comeback for the Austrian imprint, pairing the label’s refined underground sensibilities with the seasoned touch of the Bavarian duo, whose catalogue already stretches across respected outlets such as Quintessentials, Morris Audio, Moment Cinetique, and their own Interloot Records.

The EP opens with its title track, ‘Like We Do,’ a high-impact house cut built for peak-time deployment. Relentless drums, modulated synth sequences, and a driving low-end combine to create a heads-down club weapon that wastes little time getting to the point. It’s energetic without being overstated, balancing raw dancefloor functionality with enough detail to reward repeated listens.

‘Mind Maze’ follows with a looser, funk-infused swing. Anchored by a bouncing bassline and hypnotic melodic motifs, the track draws listeners deeper with chopped soul vocals, shimmering textures, and tightly programmed percussion. The result is a groove-heavy affair that feels equally suited to intimate club spaces and open-air dancefloors.

On the flip side, ‘Colours’ shifts the mood into more reflective territory. Blending deep house foundations with cosmic disco influences, the track unfolds through spacious synth work and melancholic undertones. There’s a warmth and emotional depth here that makes it a standout moment on the record, perfectly capturing those transitional sunrise or sunset hours when the energy softens but the connection to the music intensifies.

Closing cut ‘Lembo’ ventures into deeper tech territory, wrapping dubby atmospherics and shimmering chords around a crisp, rolling groove. It’s a subtle but effective finale, demonstrating the duo’s ability to strip things back without sacrificing momentum. Every element feels carefully placed, allowing the track’s understated hypnotism to shine through.

Across all four cuts, Decent Rides showcase the broad influences that have shaped their sound, from disco and jazz sensibilities to deep, dubby house aesthetics. Mastered by Patrick Pulsinger and limited to just 200 vinyl copies, ‘Like We Do’ is a classy and versatile EP that marks a strong return for Fortunea Records while further cementing Decent Rides’ reputation as craftsmen of thoughtful, dancefloor-focused music.
