Marginalia rounds out its ‘Save Me’ Remix Album with a contribution from the person who started it all. Two years after taking a leap of faith on a teenage producer from Guadalajara, label founder ELIF steps in as a remixer on the very project she set in motion, reworking Liminal MX’s ‘Fast Line’ for the seven track reimagining of his debut album.

The story behind this record runs deep. When Marginalia released Liminal MX’s debut album in December 2024, it was the imprint’s sixteenth release and its first ever album, a decision ELIF made on instinct and taste alone rather than follower counts or hype. Two years on, that gamble looks like one of the label’s defining moments, and the remix album gathers seven artists from across the electronic spectrum to revisit the music, each chosen for a genuine connection to Marginalia, to ELIF, or to Liminal MX himself.

When it came to ‘Fast Line’, ELIF’s approach was typically generous. So in love with the album that she could not pick a favourite, she gave first choice to her colleagues and took on the last remaining track. Remixing music she already loves and plays is never straightforward, but here she keeps the melancholic vocals as intact as possible while layering in the glitchy textures she has been drawn to lately, arriving somewhere deep yet noticeably more dancefloor ready than the original.

ELIF is no stranger to the spotlight. The Barcelona based artist has released on respected homes such as Anjunadeep, Get Physical and Frau Blau, with upcoming music lined up for Keinemusik’s VOD, LP Giobbi’s Yes Yes Yes, Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth, plus performances spanning Tomorrowland, Hi Ibiza, Coachella and Fabric London. As Liminal MX’s manager and mentor as well as Marginalia’s founder, her place on this album feels less like a guest spot and more like a full circle moment.

As for Liminal MX, the past two years have been transformative. Still only twenty years old, he has warmed up a sold out Marginalia showcase in Mexico City, built his name across Guadalajara, released on labels such as Borders of Light and Kiosk ID, and taken on A&R duties at the very label that gave him his start. ELIF handed him a platform when he had almost nothing behind him, and what he has done with it since is entirely his own.

Founded in 2023 by ELIF, Marginalia has built its reputation on backing emerging talent and growing alongside its artists. The ‘Save Me’ Remix Album also marks the label’s third visual chapter, introducing a fresh aesthetic direction while staying unmistakably itself.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Fast Line’ exclusively on When We Dip Radio. Enjoy!
