Brazilian born and Berlin based, Alex Stein has built a reputation as one of techno’s most relentless forces, a producer whose tracks are engineered for the biggest rooms and the most intense moments of a peak-time set. With releases on Drumcode, Octopus and a long-running home at Terminal M, he has become a go-to name for DJs chasing that perfect blend of muscular energy and hypnotic groove. Now he returns to Monika Kruse’s iconic imprint with a new single that does exactly what its name promises.
‘The Pull’ is a study in controlled intensity. Built around a driving low end and a tense, looping hook, the track grips from the first bar and refuses to let go. Stein layers crisp percussion over a rolling bassline, letting the tension build through subtle filtering and well placed drops before unleashing a hook that lives up to the title. It is precise, powerful and made for the floor, the kind of weapon that has made his name synonymous with festival main stages and late night warehouse sets alike.
The release lands on Terminal M, the long-standing label founded by techno pioneer Monika Kruse. For more than two decades the Berlin institution has been a defining voice in the genre, championing both established heavyweights and rising talent while staying true to its uncompromising, dancefloor first ethos. ‘The Pull’ fits perfectly into that lineage, another statement of intent from an artist and label who continue to push techno forward.
You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘The Pull’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
