Tim Engelhardt reworks Nuage and Fractures’ laidback, melancholy dance track ‘Red Line’ into an energetic, dancefloor-ready techno song. Lacing the emotive, silky vocals of the original with frantic stabs and an arpeggiating bassline, Engelhardt finds a brilliant way to blend moods, creating a vibe that feels both sullen and vibrant.

‘Red Line’, the third single from Nuage’s recent album on House Of Youth, began as a demo by Melbourne-based electronic artist Fractures that was reworked into a clubbier interpretation by Nuage. It’s a song about being enveloped and ensconced in a mutual feeling and a relationship, and wanting to stay in that place. Simple, little details that make up a larger picture.
