A new artist to Dmitry Molosh’s label Proportion family, ARTN is a rising star who brings an exciting 2-track offering to the label with his ‘Atomic Heart / Pragmata’ EP.

Hailing from the land of the cedar tree, ARTN is a relatively new artist to grace the dance music scene. A graduate of G-Mohris’ ‘Per-vurt DJ & Music Production School’, the Lebanese artist has consistently found himself gaining attention from the underground house fraternity with his blend of progressive and deep house combined with elements of techno. Making his commercial production debut in late 2019, the “Passenger” EP on Sidra was quickly followed by a clutch of original and remix production material. Finding his work sought after by a host of leading imprints, the ARTN sound found its way onto the likes of Electronic Tree, One Of A Kind, Juicebox Music and the ever-reliable Mango Alley.

Now making his Proportion debut, “Atomic Heart” is centred around a thumping rhythmic groove as heavy kick, off-beat hats and cavernous sub-bass groove pattern form the foundation. Subtle melodic flourishes float across the mid-range in reverb-drenched glory as a beautiful piano phrase provides a moment of sublime juxtaposition. Full of effects-laden intrigue, a variety of complementary synth layers add to aural collage, especially at a breakdown full of emotion and beauty. Dropping back into its heavy groove in the second half, the track is an effortless study in dancefloor knowhow.

Offering a slightly more up-tempo vibe with its fizzing hi-hat pattern, “Pragmata” can quickly be identified with sonic characteristics straight out of the ARTN studio. Another rich bassline pattern adds verve and head-shaking energy, while delay-infused synth motifs swirl across the 8-minute piece as counterpoint motifs pan the stereo spectrum in dizzying fashion especially at the stripped-back, mid-point break. Propelled forward in the third movement with melodic elements and rhythmic framework combining to powerful effect, ARTN has created another exciting and polished work.
