One of Renaissance Records’ longest-serving acolytes, Julian Wassermann, returns with the phenomenal Modeplex in tow for the ‘Mondo EP’ including a great remix by AFFKT.

Julian Wassermann needs little introduction. Arguably one of Germany’s most respected names in Melodic house and techno, his discography runs deep, taking in Stil Vor Talent, Oddity, Atlant, Systematic, Einmusika and more. Despite being able to traverse genres with consummate ease (his style reaches into the corners of techno, melodic AND breaks), his continued pursuit of creativity often finds him collaborating as his forthcoming EP for Renaissance confirms. Step forward Modeplex, yet another titan of the German melodic techno movement, whose CV adds further weight by including remixes for – or by – the likes of Jamiie, D-Nox and Marc DePulse to name but a few.

Together they have created the ‘Mondo EP, which is a stunning example of classy melodic techno. Whether the glitched, infectious riff of the lead track; Afro-inspired vocal of ‘This Is Not True or ‘Reactive’, with its warm, musical hug, all drip in their trademark quality. “Working together for the first time was a real pleasure,” they confirm, “collaborations are always a gamble, but when they come off the results can be amazing – we sincerely hope we’ve achieved the latter with Mondo!”

The EP also boasts a remix from Sincopat head-honcho AFFKT, who injects a powerful shot of indie dance to ‘Mondo’. But it only came about after some deliberation as he explains, “I was given the option of what track I wanted to remix, which was tough; it was genuinely hard to pick. But the riff in ‘Mondo’ eventually won out. My style rides that border between melodic and indie and I knew could do something fresh with the track. I can’t wait to get this out there!”

You can now listen to the full premiere of AFFKT’s remix exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
