Berlin-based musician HOVR conjures up unique house grooves on a superb EP for Kindisch that includes a retouch from TÂCHES.
HOVR is an innovative artist who mixes up the crazy with the cozy. His productions and DJ sets spread real joy and have come on labels like Poesie Musik, Dantze, and Lauter Unfug, with appearances all over the world from Australia to Africa to Kater Blau and Fusion Festival. Never one to follow the norm, he always comes through with his own musical personality.
He opens up this EP with ‘Gravitate,’ a majestic and uplifting track that pairs a dirty bassline with lush and tender chords. Dreamy spoken words muse on two entities coming together as one and delicate keys heighten the sense of romance. It’s a bittersweet track that works at home, in the club, or anywhere else. The excellent house grooves of ‘Afterlove’ then shuffle and tumble, build and fall apart. A forlorn vocoder vocal layers in the melancholy next to heartfelt chords and longing synths. It is another innovative track packed with meaning.
British artist TÂCHES is a spiritual character very much in touch with mother nature. He runs the Glitter Cowboy label and makes music for labels like Anjunadeep and Cosmic Awakenings with a clear sense of nostalgia. His retouch of ‘Afterlove’ is beautifully organic and delicate. It has languid bass and jazzy pads, rich harmonies, and a sense of dynamism that keeps you locked in for the most heartwarming ride.
