Bringing more sun in, here comes Nhii with his newest EP for A Tribe Called Kotori, ‘Just Fine.’ True to his all-embracing approach and multi-faceted vision, this new effort from the New-York-based producer has it all, from the soul-stirring vibes to the addictive bass chug, through to the Afro-Cuban rhythms and cutting-edge, left-of-centre funk.

“A song about themes of love, hope, acceptance, and resilience, reflecting the complexities and beauty of a deep relationship” as Nhii describes it, ‘Just Fine’ – featuring the talented Samuel Miller on vocals – is a slightly wonky piece of emotional boogie, nimbly surfing the edge between jacking house playfulness, eerie folk-jazz arrangements and brittle a-cappella soulfulness.

“A Longing for improvement and honesty in a relationship” conveyed through the dance floor and seeking to unite in times of division. Fusing contemporary electronics with African polyrhythms and middle-eastern strings, ‘Clay Theory’ runs the hoodoo down in proper exhilarating fashion, fevered congas and snares leading the charge while shape-shifting synthwaves engulf us into its mesmerizing patterns like quicksands. “I want to bring emotions to the dancefloor and spark maybe one or two thoughts about unity and a common feeling of “we are in this together.””

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Clay Theory’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
