Montreal boys Lex & Wood in house for the latest episode of Select Cuts this week. The rising pair, with standout releases on the likes of Eton Messy and Great Stuff, have rinsed a top quality sixty minute session for When We Dip readers. What’s more, the lads took the time to run us through their current schedules and all that’s upcoming this Summer, including a string of dingers set for release on Amsterdam’s Armada Subjekt.

WWD: Lee Walker’s stpmpin’ remix of ‘Get Up’ just dropped. What was your reaction the first time you heard it?
Phat ! We love Lee’s style of production at the moment, bringing in that old school crisp house top line over rumbling basslines.
We’re really glad to have him on board with this remix.

Skytag. There’s nothing like going to flip around on some trampolines to blow off some steam

WWD: Best thing about Montreal in the Summer?
Definitely the extensive number of events you can attend. There’s something for every taste, from music culinary / beer festivals, in addition to the F1 weekend, weekly Piknic Electronik parties and the numerous amazing terrasse spots to have a drink.
WWD: Favourite studio beverage and why?
A nice cafe macchiato in the am and some Honey Jack in the pm.
To keep the creative juices flowing all day long!
WWD: What’s the best studio top you learned recently?
Save your projects. We’re mourning the loss of a banger we hadn’t saved as we are writing this.
And multi-band sidechaining; allows you to sidechain just the right frequencies, especially in the bassline.
WWD: Production wise, what can we expect from you in the coming months?
Lots of new releases on the way on Armada Subjekt, as well as a release on Eton Messy’s Spring collection.
We’re really focused on improving our production quality and making our sound evolve.
We’re aiming at 1 release per month, so we have to keep up the productivity!
WWD: Tell us a little bit about the mix you’re recorded for us today!
It’s a short recap of our latest gig at Circus after hours; most of the tracks in the mix we played live at the event, so we tried to recreate the vibe and energy for those who couldn’t be there to enjoy the music !
We like to call it a ‘power tech’ mix.
