Jojo Angel and Mateo Rosolare, two names that might not ring an instant bell in many house listener’s heads. Still nothing? Well it’s about time to retune your ears, and get to know the two frontmen of the dark and dirty Daylight Robbery Records, giving us a flavour of New York with their new EP coming up on Defined Music called: This is B.R.O.N.X.

The EP starts with Is This House, a good question indeed. Bouncy and groovy, this song brings in the sound of acid house to give that nice funky feel. During the track we are asked “what is house” by a futuristic lyrical sample, before that dark and funky acid element is turned up a key, creating a relentless bassline that slows down and speeds up to provide that choppy, bouncy vibe.
We’re then taken to New York with the final track of the EP titled B.R.O.N.X. A hard-hitting drum starts the track, where it is then gradually faded out and replaced by a harsh alarm sound. A vocal sample, reminiscent of a voicemail, is swiftly faded in with a certain techy repetitiveness that would go down a treat on the dancefloor before BANG: we’re hit once again with that punchy, penetrating snare drum with some ringing hi hats in the background… groovy, groovy, groovy.

With the This is B.R.O.N.X EP these two artists aren’t just putting New York on the map – they’re establishing Defined Music as a label that showcases the best in untouched, underground house music. If I were you I’d keep your ears peeled: these two are going to be smashing the scene for a while to come.
