Relatively new on the scene is Ben Thomas (AKA L'Étranger) and as a result much still evades us about his musical background. One thing we do know, however, is that his 1997 EP is gonna be a big hit. The thing that struck me from my very first listen was the freshness of the Englishman's sound and structure. There is a unique element to his work that sets L'Étranger apart from the pretenders. 'Skin', the first track on the release is a great example, what starts a chilled electronic tune bursts in life with groovy house beats. Thomas' tracks don't follow those linear routes our brains have come to expect and I think people will find that stimulating and enjoyable. Expect this EP to the fuel the rise we seen this last year! Release set for November 26th on La Bombe.
